Koirala’s mortal remains consigned to flames at Aryaghat
The mortal remains of former Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala were consigned to flames with full state honours at Pashupati Aryaghat, Kathmandu on Wednesday.His nephews Atul Koirala and Sudanshu jointly lit the funeral pyre according to Hindu tradition. Large number of people from all walks of life turned up at Aryaghat to witness Koirala’s funeral rites.Earlier in the day, his body was moved in a funeral procession from Dashrath Stadium, where his body was kept for dignitaries and commoners to pay their last respects.
The body procession moved through Ram Shah Path, Kamalpokhari, Gyaneshwor, Ratopul, and Gaushala before finally reaching Pashupati Aryaghat.

Koirala, 78, died in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at his residence in Maharajgunj. He was 78.
